Baptism is the traditional service, but it also involves promises of commitment into the ongoing life of the church. Many families want this and are happy to make these promises. Before baptism, they attend for three or four months, and continue to do so afterwards as well, enjoying the love of God together.
Thanksgiving is a newer service, a touch of God on a baby’s life without any expectation that a family will carry on being a part of the church. They attend for a month in preparation, and then enjoy their big day with our blessing.
Both services have godparents, both take place in our 11am service, usually on the first Sunday of the month, and to find out more and to see if you might be able to be a part of this at St Catherine’s, please contact Trish our children's worker, directly. We do book up quite a way in advance!
